Shut up!

You may have been raised by a family like mine where "shut-up" was basically a swear word. Instead, we used words like "be quiet" or if we couldn't say anything nice, we didn't say anything at all. Well, I want to tell all the random people at church, the grocery store, the doctor's office to shut up, stuff it, zip your lip.... I am so sick of people coming up to me with a worried or shocked expression and telling me how fat Gavin is! These people are the same people that tell you when you're pregnant things like, "Are you sure you're not having twins?" "Wow, you look like you're about ready to explode!" I know they mean well and are just trying to make conversation but I always felt like saying "Shut Up" then as I do now. I've actually had someone tell me that he looks like Jabba the Hut? from Star Wars. Our bishop lovingly calls him "fat boy" and a 2-year old at church today said, "Mom, look...baby...big!" We love Gavin no matter what. That part of the deal was sealed way before he was born and I'm not really offended about this anymore, I've just heard it all before. This Friday he weighed in at healthy a 22 lbs, which puts him at the 97% for his age. At least he's on the charts. :) For all the rude people out there, we don't really care what you think, so shut up!

  1. I love it when people think they should say whatever comes to their mind. There's a girl in my ward whose baby is on the smaller side and it is so annoying to hear her go on and on and on about how worried she is about her. She is healthy just on the small side.
I love babies that actually increase in weight like a normal baby. They do things faster and you will be so grateful when cold and flu season comes around that your guy has the ability to fight them off better because he has some meat on him.
I saw his pictures you posted on your last post and didn't think anything but what a CUTE CUTE boy with sweet hair and smiley eyes!

  2. I hear you on this one.
For some reason every cashier I've ever had at Walmart makes a comment as to how small Deakon is. Duh!!!...people can be so inconsiderate. Gavin is gorgeous and perfect.

  3. At least he's on the chart, Taylor went a good year at being off the chart on weight and now shes a twig! Gavin is adorable, I dare say skinny babies are NOT as cute!

  4. I love big babies. They're much cuter than little ones. Ryan is now 3 months old and has almost doubles in size. I think he'll be big like Gavin. I hope so anyway!

  5. He does not look fat to me. He's adorable! Next time someone calls him a name or too chunky, think of a witty name to call them ;) Something that will actually shut them up! Or make their jaw drop.

  6. Oh, how I can echo your "Shut up" to all those tactless people. Heaven knows I heard it all when I was so hugely pregnant. About Gavin's fat...love those fat rolls while you can. Squeeze 'em, kiss 'em, hug 'em, because once he starts scooting and crawling all that sweet chubb goes away and never comes back. So sad!

  7. My sister's used to call Bridget "93" because she was in the 93rd percentile. I know what you mean here... everyone seems to have something to say, and its not always nice.
